"Autumn Moon" Lingbi Scholars' Stone

Prized for their unique formations, scholars' stones are sculptural objects of contemplation that have inspired Chinese artists for hundreds of years. Evocative "Autumn Moon" is distinguished by a circular void naturally formed within its curved contours. The opening resembles an autumn moon, which is known as a larger and more colorful lunar state that traditionally symbolizes prosperity, happiness and family reunion. There is no one reading of a scholar’s stone. They are wonderfully suggestive forms that are open to interpretation and can be simply celebrated as abstract sculpture. The finely grained and delicately textured limestone of "Autumn Moon" is known as Lingbi.
