This late 19th-century Chinese altar table expresses Ming-dynasty tastes with clean lines and a simple silhouette. Minimally decorated, the table is constructed with straight legs and double stretchers. The legs meet at beautifully stylized spandrels carved in the form of auspicious clouds outlined with a beaded edge. This table charms with an open-grained texture and warm black-brown lacquer with an unexpected, elegant pink hue. Originally used as a home altar for ancestor worship, this long table blends into modern interiors.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
