This 19th-century stool from China's Shanxi province charms with its simple form and dark finish. The stool's round seat is cut from burled elmwood and embraces the notion of "wabi sabi" with deep grooves and an irregular grain pattern. The seat is supported by three straight legs bolstered by interlocking stretcher bars. With a smooth, patinated surface, this versatile stool adds rich color and texture to the modern home.
