A black lacquer finish brings out the beautiful silhouette of this elegant Qing-dynasty altar table once used to hold incense, offerings and portraits honoring ancestors. Skillfully constructed without nails or screws, this beautifully proportioned table floats an everted top on a graceful frame accented with carved ruyi medallions, symbols of good fortune. Subtle sword-shaped feet are give additional lightness to the sculptural form.
