Composed of fifteen miniature heads welded onto a circular form, this intricate necklace is styled after the prestige collars worn by royalty of the Kingdom of Bamum, a pre-colonial state in Central Africa. Cast in copper alloy using the lost wax method, each miniature head is depicted with an ornate headdress, a motif seen also in Bamum masks laden with cowrie shells. Made for a tourist market, this prestige necklace is nonetheless a storied example of African metalworking.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
