This 19th century altar coffer features clean lines in the ming manner. It would have originally been used as storage next to a kang platform in a woman's sleeping quarters. Our carpenters, skilled in traditional methods, elongated the legs to make it more functional for today. The negative space framed by the hoof feet and slim legs encourage the eye up to the body of the piece. These traditional design aesthetics contribute simplicity and lightness to any modern context.
