Inspired by the natural world, Nupe ceramicists fired this water vessel in the shape of a gourd. The vessel's varied textures and colors come from its functional design. The dimpling and geometric markings were engraved to give the drinker a better grip, creating the hand-worn texture and off-colored streaks. The bottom was designed to rest against the ground, and constant use over many years have left behind a distinctive pattern of light tones. Elegantly formed and intricately detailed, this gourd-shaped ceramic vessel is a singularly sculptural object for the home.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
