Lacquer and Gilt Brush Pot

This red and black lacquered brush pot, imbued with the texture of time from its many years of use, once held a scholar’s selected calligraphy brushes. The gilt-decorated pot was chosen to reflect his personal style and artistic taste. Each of the six sides shows a different scene of scholars and attendants in a courtyard setting.
