Glazed Kitchen Jar

A thin brown glaze clings to the gentle swell of this petite jar, lingering on imperfections and glistening with an iridescent sheen. Crafted in the late 19th century, the wide-mouth jar with strap handles was once used to store food in a Qing-dynasty kitchen, as evidenced by its interior glaze. Stopping short of the base, the irregular glaze exhibits a beautiful gradation from rich chestnut brown to light periwinkle.
