"Crime Scene" Mosaic by Toyoharu Kii

Bordered by linear patterns and depressed in the middle, Toyoharu Kii’s mosaic “Crime Scene” takes the shape of a book. The title of the work indicates a forensic report given in purely visual terms. Irregular arrangements of tiles form areas of trampled earth and buried mounds that may conceal clues. Randomly dispersed large stones and rubble piles composed of smaller stones provide evidence that an act of violence has taken place.
