The first Chinese Emperor, Qin Shi Huangdi, established a system of weights and measures several thousand of years ago. He thought it was important for trade and commerce to establish standards that could be used across his vast country. This beautiful bronze weight was cast in Hebei Province much later, during the Qing Dynasty, but is a symbol of this important early moment in Chinese History.
