Selected for its unexpected patterning, burl wood comes from a tree growth that develops an intricate grain different from the rest of the tree. This 19th-century chest made in northern China showcases the camphor burl’s intriguing grain and dark brown color in facing cabinet doors secured with traditional brass hardware. Below, four small drawers line up along the length of the chest. A beautiful piece to house clothes or linens and even media components.
