Called “tsakli,” miniature Tibetan Buddhist paintings such as this one depict specific deities or auspicious symbols and were used as to facilitate meditation, create mandalas or stand in for specific deities during ritual practices. Remarkable for its vivid color, this 19th-century prayer card depicts a silver vessel filled with flowers. Known as a treasure vase, it symbolizes worldly success, prosperity and good luck.
