Two Drawer Red Lacquered Table

Lacquer not only enhances furniture with its gloss and vibrant color, the resin coating made from the sap of the Rhus verniciflua tree acts as a kind of natural coating, resistant to water, acid, and heat. Tinted red with the addition of cinnabar, the lacquer that coats this delightful table was applied in thirty or more coats, a time-consuming and costly process.
