In ancient China, a person’s social prominence was reflected in where they sat in relation to the emperor and in the style of chair they sat upon. Made during the Qing Dynasty, this stately elmwood chair is wide with a low back and is adorned with elaborate carvings, reflecting the owner's noble status. Cloaked in a rich, warm patina and with storage compartments beneath the seat and at the base, this grand chair would be the striking centerpiece to any room.

Base of chair has significant restorations to address damages.
