Chops have been used by Chinese merchants and emperors since 1000 BC. The ancient tradition of dripped-wax seal has given way to pre-inked stamps, but they still carry the same weight they have for millennia. This chop is unique as a thumbprint—150 years ago a businessman from China’s Shanxi Province used it to ratify important documents. The cobra decorating the chop’s handle probably had great personal significance.

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
