Carved from a single block of fruitwood, this unusual piece was once part of the central wheel shaft of a Qing-dynasty grain mill. Each slot once secured a peg of a large water wheel, which harnessed river currents to draw a millstone across grain harvests. A rich patina cloaks the expressive grain of the fruitwood, softening the gear heart's irregular, rippled texture. Once a critical industrial mechanism, the piece now lives on as a sculptural side table or pedestal.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
