Graceful humpback spandrels and hoof feet mark this streamlined table as a finely crafted Qing-dynasty altar constructed in the Ming manner. Similar to the minimalist linearity of the modern Parson’s table, this altar table squares off with right angles and flush contours. Once used to hold the ritual objects of ancestor worship, it carries a feeling of gratitude and grace as a console table in an entry, dining room, or living space.
