In the 1930s, Shanghai, China was swept up in the Art Deco design movement. Design, architecture, art, fashion, and furniture were all influenced by this modern movement, permeating every part of life in the bustling, vibrant city. This stylish pair of armchairs is a product of that era and exemplifies the qualities that make Art Deco so sought after: simple lines, striking colors, and bold geometric shapes that remain timeless, even after so many decades. Recently reupholstered in a neutral high-performance woven fabric, each chair's plush, boxy cushions are framed by rich rosewood. The square sides showcase the beautiful grain of the rosewood, complemented by minimalist arm rails that take right angles in a nod to traditional fretwork.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
