This seated sculpture was carved over 400 years ago during the Ming dynasty from a single block of limestone. It was discovered in the Shanxi region of China and is believed to represent a seated lion, fu dog or Shizi, a protector, well worn by time. The history of the proud and serene stone sculpture is evident in the character and patina of the stone.
