Melon Form Marble Drum

Hand carved of marble, this drum-shaped stool swells a ribbed melon shape, an ancient symbol of fertility. The artist used a hobnail-like texture on either end to suggest the rivets that fastened the drum's stretched skin head and included surprisingly lifelike handles on either side. We love it as a side table or garden stool.
