This strikingly handsome seat was carved in China’s Shanxi province out of a piece of solid marble. It is shaped like a melon, which is an ancient Chinese symbol of perpetuity. 150 years ago, a Qing dynasty matron would have used this stool to rest her feet. Stone stools were generally placed along paths, or nestled among the trees and flowers in traditional Chinese gardens. We enjoy them as small side tables indoors or out. Since hand carved, each stool varies slightly.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
