For thousands of years, traditional Chinese architecture had no interior closets, and trunks and cabinets were used as a storage solution for clothing, precious books, and scrolls. This monumentally scaled 19th-century trunk would have been used in a grand home. With elegant proportions, clean lines, and cabriole legs, the chest is a perfect example of how the beauty, function, and form of classical Chinese furniture influenced modern design aesthetics. A single brass key hole plate shines on the front of the chest like a full moon in the night sky.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
