The straight lines and subtle curves of this pair of calligrapher’s shelves flow with a seamless and elegant design. Masterfully crafted of lacquered elmwood around 1900, the bookcases may have once been the centerpieces of the studio of a Chinese scholar. Open shelves make them ideal for storing books, scrolls, precious antiques, calligraphy brushes, and other writing materials. Two small drawers balance the look while providing storage for smaller items.
