"Rooster and Cherry Blossoms" Kite by Michael Thompson

"Rooster and Cherry Blossoms" is a unique miniature kite by Chicago-based artist Michael Thompson. To create a kite, Thompson builds a split bamboo frame with bamboo collected from Southern China. Over the bamboo, he stretches muslin, then collages with ephemera collected from his Asian travels. "Rooster and Cherry Blossoms" features a vintage Japanese print of a rooster with a whimsical tail in front of winter branches.
