Tapping into a porcelain tradition that dates back to the 9th century A.D., Chinese artist Xie Dong has earned international acclaim for her captivating porcelain designs. Intrigued by all that is formless or ephemeral in nature, Xie Dong conjures forth sculptural forms, “commanding them to reveal their true identity in porcelain.”

This ethereal pendant light appears like the surface of a flowing river, hence the name "shui" which translates from Mandarin as water. Thin to the point of near translucence, the shade casts a warm glow, adding depth and dimension to the artist’s exceptional modeling.

Based in Beijing, Xie Dong is a graduate of the Beijing Art and Design Institute. Her works have been included in many important design exhibitions around the world and can be found in many international art museum collections.
