Tapping into a porcelain tradition dates back to the 9th century A.D., Chinese artist Xie Dong has earned international acclaim for her captivating porcelain designs. Intrigued by all that is formless or ephemeral in nature, Xie conjures forth forms, “commanding them to reveal their true identity in porcelain.” This large plate ripples with the look of crumpled paper. Paired with it are three organically shaped cups that seem to melting; their once crisp square shape becoming rounded and asymmetrical. Together the plate and cups form a dynamic set that’s both sculptural and practical.

Based in Beijing, Xie is a graduate of the Beijing Art and Design Institute. Her works have been included in many important design exhibitions around the world and can be found in many international art museum collections.
