Created by artist Taikkun Li exclusively for PAGODA RED, this limited edition hand-painted apple is one of a series drawing on the rich tradition of Chinese porcelain ceramics. Fired at the historic Chinese imperial kilns of Jingdezhen, this delicate apple, a symbol of luck and prosperity in Chinese culture, portrays a fluffy bird painted with impressionist, freehand brushwork inspired by the monk painter Bada. The artist depicts the bird as a kind of thinker, poised on a rock in meditative posture. Whether displayed alone or collected as a group, each artist-signed apple is meant to be held and appreciated for its imagery, texture, and shape.

California-based artist Taikkun Li is a multimedia artist who studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His work was recently selected to represent the contemporary evolution of Chinese ceramics at the University of New Mexico Museum.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
