Each of these early 20th century teak curved armchairs, from the Chinese port city of Tianjin, is clearly influenced by the wave of the Art Deco movement that swept through the city during the 1920s and 1930s, when there was a large European community living and working there. They are built with sophisticated mortise and tenon joinery. The backs are separate panels that can be easily slid out of the structure, making them easy to transport when they were first constructed. Working with local artisans, we've added cushions upholstered in Mongolian lambswool.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
