Igbo sculptures are defined by their wide stance, symmetry, and forward stretched hands. With hair styled in hornlike forms, this figure would have likely embellished a ceremonial house, where it would have been arranged with other figures in a central group and around the walls of the interior. Such ceremonial houses often served as shrines to central community figures or founding ancestors.

“I am particularly fond of PAGODA RED as we have known the family for so long. Betsy is a professional in every way and her intelligent taste comes from a long line of family knowledge in the arts. She and her team are the very best to work with and we find treasures with every visit!”
