Chinese Deco furniture is highly sought after by collectors and others who appreciate this niche moment in Chinese furniture design. Carpenters in Shanghai, Canton and Tianjin were exposed to the European Deco furniture imported into China by expatriates doing business there at the time. They emulated the forms in Chinese hardwood, all the while respecting traditional Chinese joinery. This teak pair is one of our favorites. Upholstered in a Holly Hunt wool blend boucle fabric, they feel sophisticated and easy at the same time. They exemplify the qualities that make Art Deco so sought after: simple lines and striking geometric designs with timeless appeal. In the 1930’s China was swept up in the Art Deco movement. Design, architecture, art, and furniture were all influenced by the popular, new style.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
