"Morning in the Park" Folding Fan by Deng Ying

Folding fans were brought over to China from Japan during the Ming Dynasty. They were a perfect canvas and so quickly became popular among painters and calligraphers. Deng Ying is a contemporary Chinese artist from Beijing. She painted this fan with a whimsical, colorful scene she calls "Morning in the Park," and her contemporary style contrasts beautifully with the traditional design of the fan.
