The countless coats of hand-applied black lacquer have aged with an inimitable crackle on this pair of 19th-century doors, which would have originally been the outermost entrance gates to a traditional home in Northern China. The graphic marks on each door are likely left from early 20th-century notice postings. The round brass plate and pulls were made by hand to replace the originals, which were lost over time.

Dimensions listed describe the doors as a pair.
