Rosewood Prosperity Lantern

Elegantly constructed of thin pieces of rosewood, this ornate 19th-century lantern would have originally been lit with candles to illuminate a very fine courtyard home in China's Anhui province. Chinese lanterns have a history that goes back over 1,800 years to the Han Dynasty. During the Lantern Festival (which falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month), people hang lanterns to symbolize finding a fresh start. Each of the frosted glass panels on this elegant lantern are detachable and fit precisely within the hexagonal frame like a puzzle. Delicately carved round medallions within the outer frame resemble Chinese eternal coins, conveying a blessing of prosperity and success.

The lantern can be hardwired by a certified electrician and professionally installed.
