The carved dragon heads protruding from this 19th century hexagonal lantern's top traditionally represent power and good fortune. This lantern would have been hung in an aristocratic Northern China courtyard home. Each of the panels are detachable and fit together in the frame like a puzzle. The frame folds flat when the panels are removed. The original glass panels have been replaced.
