Intricately detailed and vibrantly colored, this wool khotan carpet depicts a group of cranes resting beneath a pine tree. Often depicted alongside each other, cranes and pine trees are some of the most common emblems of longevity. The birds are surrounded by branches of peony blossoms, symbols of love and affection and emblems of springtime. The tranquil scene is cast in many rosy shades of pink, softly accenting its surroundings with subdued color.
