Two Drawer Two Door Cushion Front Chest

Made of northern Elmwood, this stunning mid-19th-century cabinet is distinguished by its beautifully aged lacquer finish and unique cushion hardware. To achieve its deep black color and lustrous sheen, artisans applied as many as 30 coats of lacquer to the cabinet. Decorative brass hardware adds silvery contrast, showcasing unusual pillowed plates that bow out slightly to nestle hinges and add wonderful dimension to its dramatic latches and pulls.
