"Summer Poem" by Yun Fung

This delightful work on paper was found in Shanghai. Created in 1977, the painting by artist Yun Fung depicts a young woman gazing out her window, “leisurely painting on a sunny day” as the characters in the upper left-hand corner describe. With her calligraphy tools before her, she pauses as she seeks inspiration from the garden setting outdoors. The artist focuses the eye on this contemplative moment by containing the composition’s color and detail within the confines of the round window, rendering the exterior with loose brushwork and sparse outlines. Presented in a simple gilt frame.
