Likely commissioned for his studio, this 19th-century writing table offered a scholar ample surface space to draft poetry or practice calligraphy. To cultivate uncluttered and inspiring surroundings, only a few carefully arranged objects would have been placed upon the table, such as a brush pot, inkstone, or table screen. The waisted table has a standard mitered frame with a floating panel and straight round legs stabilized by simple spandrels and graceful giant's arm braces. Made of northern elmwood, the table is cloaked in a richly textured lacquer finish, worn at the feet from a century of use.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
