The double gourd is a symbol of fertility considered to be good luck, it is also a Daoist emblem of immortality. Double gourd vases (also called Huluping vases) were invented centuries ago during the Southern Song Dynasty at the Longquan Kiln. This beautiful monochrome Sang de Boeuf vase was potted in three sections and 'luted' together, a precise process requiring skilled artistry and practice.
