Natural Lute Table

Long tables such as this one historically provided an ample surface to support and play a qin, a traditional stringed instrument. Often made at a lower height, this taller contemporary table may have also served another function. Elegantly proportioned with a square c-shape, this table is crafted of walnut, a wood favored for fine furniture making. Detailed with subtle decoration, seen in the curved hoof feet and the restrained ruyi motif carved on either side of the legs, the console table's simple form highlights the wood’s natural warm color and open grain.
