Guatemalan Carved Column

The Maya peoples of Guatemala created incredible works of art through columnar woodworking and stone shaping. This contemporary column continues the tradition with geometric vertical carvings that flourish into the foliated upper half. As the vines crawl upward and become leaves reaching for the sun, the eye is drawn across the organic variations in the nut-brown wood.
