A thin brown glaze clings to the high shoulders of this petite jar, pooling between subtle ridges to create a pattern of light and dark across the vessel. Crafted in the late 19th century, the wide-mouth jar with strap handles was once used to store food in a Qing-dynasty kitchen, as evidenced by its interior glaze. Stopping short of the base, the irregular glaze exhibits a rich range of colors and pitted wear that gives the pot fantastic character.
