Centuries ago, this handsome coffer may have served as the family storage chest for embroidered silks or formal clothing. Crafted by a Qing-dynasty artisan in the bustling port city of Tianjin, the 19th-century cabinet was likely commissioned as part of a bride's dowry. The quality of the workmanship is evident in the sideboard's concealed joinery and original brass hardware. The coffer's lacquered elmwood finish has worn beautifully with time to give the piece fantastic character and texture.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
