This early 20th century tea table and stools were carved of Huanghuali, or yellow rosewood, a precious and revered hardwood that is widely appreciated by collectors for its rarity and unusual grain patterns. The detailed style of carving on the legs and aprons was described to us by the collector from whom we acquired it as "like the scales on a dragon's back", a pattern which we have never before encountered. We love the inherent luxury of the wood and the unusual yet timeless texture—serious, fashionable and happy at the same time.
