Crafted of fine rosewood, this early 20th-century incense tray is an example of the multi-functional boxes used tabletop in lieu of a chest of drawers. While some were used to store cosmetics, jewelry, documents, and other accessories, the small scale and narrow drawers of this box suggest it was used to store incense. The recessed top functions as a decorative tray for displaying censers, and was likely kept atop a family altar. Showcasing the rich color and fine grain of prized rosewood, this incense tray is perfect as a display stand for sculptures or decorative objects.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
