This early 20th century jar decorated with birds, bamboo, and lions was handmade in Southern China for the purpose of pickling or preserving a large amount of eggs. Since this jar is glazed inside and out it could have also been used to store water, rice and other food. Today, this captivating jar lends itself to an interesting container for plants, flowers and trees indoors and out.
