A rolled-up scroll or treasured root pot may have once been among the erudite objects stored in this stately book chest. Emphasizing the beauty of northern elmwood (yumu), the expertly constructed cabinet is minimally decorated save for the soft glimmer of its moon plate hinges, dagger-post lock, and discreetly carved base. Over one hundred years old, the bookcase still reveals traces of its original black lacquer finish. We like it bedside or next to a high-arm sofa, filled with a collection of contemporary art books or antique tomes.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
