Underglaze Cobalt and Copper Fish Bowl

This grand, blue-and-white porcelain bowl is hand-painted with flora and fauna of the sea, offering blessings of wealth, abundance, and the contented harmony of a fish in water. The underwater imagery of this jar was hand-painted with vibrant copper and cobalt pigments prior to firing, a process of underglazing developed during the Song Dynasty.
