Hand-carved from birchwood, this exquisite tray is an excellent example of 19th-century art from China's Shanxi province. The tray is shaped in the form of a paper fan, an accessory that emerged in China over 3,000 years ago and gained symbolic importance as status symbols and canvases for works of art. The corners of this fan form tray are adorned with carvings of auspicious bats, traditional symbols of happiness and joy.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
